      ABSTRACT
      Degradation of the gas trunk pipelines material characteristics due to the ageing process can occur during long-term operation. The investigations of the trunk pipeline characteristics which have been in operation 35 – 40 years showed that long-term pipeline operation causes neglectable degradation of the normalized mechanical and electro-chemical properties of the low-alloyed tubular steals. The degradation can not cause a serious danger if the appropriate control of the pipe wall thickness will be organized.
