      ABSTRACT
      Laboratory studies and numerical simulation have been carried out for mineralized solute flow in clays affected by suffusion. This, in turn, leads to increasing permeability of loam and changes its physical and mechanical properties. The numerical water balance model developed for an impoundment considers time-dependent changes of clayey screen properties due to chemical suffusion. The kinetic parameter of the chemical reaction rate between salutes and clayey loam has been estimated by inverse modeling.
