      ABSTRACT
      A new scheme of breaking rocks during shafts is proposed. Feature of the scheme is benching shape contouring the face with a lag from the main holes of the round. Numerical model for the study of stress-deformed state of the barrel bottom hole is substantiated. Numerical study to determine the effective height of the ledge, where the destruction of the circuit at the bottom of the barrel stope happens is executed. The dependence of the coefficient of the marginal stability of rock mass on the height of the ledge at the bottom of the barrel is established.
